Spiderweb
90cm/56cm (35.4"/22") Digital print
Over 100 million years ago in what later became Spain,
a spider’s four victims together with the spider’s web
were captured in amber. The victims were a wasp, a bee,
a fly and a mite – all but the mite from the three orders
of flying insects with today’s highest diversity.
Spiders are not insects but through predation they
significantly affected their evolution, although the most
ancient spiders did not use webs at all.
